Several economic forecasters have reported that President Trump’s debt accumulation is far worse than President Obama’s, and while the nations debt has increased, these experts are leaving out one key statistic. That fact left out is the debt as a percentage of the gross domestic product (GDP) is actually half of what it was under the Obama Administration. In 2010, two years into Obama’s first term the debt as a percentage of the GDP was 9.501% and and in 2019 the numbers have improved dramatically to 4.212%. We know that the debt has increased significantly under Trump but what is under reported is that the nation’s production has also jumped substantially so the debt burden is a much smaller percentage of the US economy.
