The original draft of the Obama/Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Clean Power Plan has been completely ignored when compared with the final version announced recently. The Clean Power Plan, which will undoubtedly result in job losses and higher electricity bills, will now impact heavily upon fossil fuel-reliant states, with “greener” states less restricted. This is in stark contrast to the original plan. For example, under the draft version, North Dakota was facing cuts of 10.6% in carbon emissions – the least of any state; under the final Clean Power Plan, this has risen to 44.9%. Only Montana and South Dakota, two other states rich in fossil fuels, are required to cut emissions by more. Another example is that of the Native Americans – previously at 6%, changed to 38%.
Many economists predict that electricity price rises will be in the region of 10-15%, which will certainly hit the manufacturing industry, where each job carries up to 7 support jobs. If you are concerned that bringing in measures now like the Clean Power Plan will only do further damage to a fragile U.S. economy, please Like & Share this post.
