According to the American Action Forum, the forthcoming Spring 2015 Regulatory Agenda, the biannual list of proposed new government regulations, is expected to leave U.S. citizens with a bill for over $110 billion. Many of these regulations, around 2,300 in total, focus on “greenhouse emissions”. One of these could actually end up costing the taxpayer $140 billion every year – the National Ozone Standard. Proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), this standard, if it comes into active legislation, will cost $1.7 trillion between 2017 and 2040, according to research by the National Association of Manufacturers.
As previously, Obama’s government will time the release of the Agenda to ensure as little exposure at that time as possible. The day before Memorial Day weekend saw the release of last year’s Spring Agenda and the Fall 2014 Agenda was actually released the day before Thanksgiving. These are clearly weekends where the average American is not considering politics, but on the road, traveling to meet family and friends.
